What happens when the server crashes - as on November 2, 2009?

At approximately 12:30 AM (just after midnight) on November 2, 2009, the server hosting this board crashed. Things went from bad to worse when the backup server crashed and the UPS batteries started to fail (although the UPS was just a coincidental annoyance).

To make a long story short, many attempts at repairing the servers "in place" failed and the final solution was to roll them back to the backup made on Nov 1 at 9 PM (the server is backed up daily). The server was actually online in a crippled mode for several hours on Nov 2. As a result, any postings that people made or membership applications submitted in that 24 hour period were lost. Please repost or reapply.

Over the years, the server has crashed or stopped working many times for a variety of reasons including loss of ADSL service, dead routers, crashed disks, extended power failures, UPS failures, and stupid mistakes. This is the first instance in my memory that any data has been lost since this board started running in 2004.

Just wanted to add my thanks, AdminMan - for the behind the scenes work you do do to keep the mugoo.com site functioning. As a user, my experience is that the Mugoo.com site is reliable, responsive, and managed.
