Due to technical problems, we abandoned the Zello test. We will continue to use the sound system.

We are going to try out ZELLO, a possible replacement for the sound system at this meeting. It uses your iOS device and headphones and a WiFi connection with a special app. The app comes in a free and paid version. The free version is all you need. Using the app over WiFi does not require ANY of your phone/device data allowance. HOWEVER, if you are outside of WiFi coverage, the app will try to use data, so turn off data when using it if you are paranoid.

The app is also available for other devices and PCs.

Download and install the app using the links below. Do this before the meeting to make sure it is "good to go" on your device.

https://support.zello.com/hc/en-us/articles/230748407-Can-we-have-a-group-chat-in-Zello-

It is free but it does require you to set up an account. Asks for a name, password and confirming email address. You can ignore all the other privacy scooping items like access to your contacts.

Runs over WiFi or uses phone data if no WiFi available.

Has "channels" that you can join.

NEWS FLASH: Because this is WiFi-based it is possible for people who are not at the meeting to listen in and ask questions! They just need to have Zello and join the channel.

Be sure your device is fully-charged before the meeting and don't forget your headphones/earbuds/Bluetooth headset.
