Headline: Should You Delete Your Facebook Page?

Source: https://www.easydns.com/blog/2018/03/26/should-you-delete-your-facebook-page/  2018-03-26

Synopsis: Cambridge Analytica harvested data from 50 million FB users using a "survey". Anyone who took the survey had their data, and all of their friends' data harvested. The blog posting shows how complicit FB was in this effort. Privacy settings are close to useless.

What this means to you: Your data may be gone already. But at least #deleteFacebook from your mobile devices.

One liner: There is no free lunch, but some cost way too much.

Synopsis: A coalition of supporters want the CRTC to institute website blocking without court orders.

What this means to you: Possibly higher cost internet access, loss of "net neutrality". The CRTC consultation remains open until March 29th. Interested Canadians should take the time to learn more about the proposal, the mounting concerns, and provide their views to the Commission, their Member of Parliament, and the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Navdeep Bains.

Synopsis: As of February 28, Apple will start the transfer of Chinese iCloud data to its new data center in Guizhou, where it will be managed by GCBD (Guizhou on the Cloud Big Data).  Reuters is reporting that Apple will also hold iCloud encryption keys for Chinese users in China itself, raising new concerns about government access.

What this means to you: The new policy does not affect iCloud users outside of China (unless the Apple ID country/region was ever set to China).

One liner: Check your region and maybe change it.
