Bought an Imac G5 last March and am still using Panther.
Does anyone have any books they prefer or recommend for the beginner, There's a lot of choice in Chapters or Amazon.com...
Also, for those who upgraded, do you find the switch over to Tiger worth the cost?

Thanks

Any books by Robin Williams or by David Pogue are the ones I recommend.  I've included a couple of links to Amazon Books below.

As for a Tiger upgrade.  I do recommend it.  It has been very stable and fast for me.  With dashboard and spotlight I find myself getting work done much faster as well.

OK.
I've been looking a t buying OS 10.4 on Ebay but don't know if it's alright: a lot of them are from people who've had minis or Emacs and are selling the OS seperate. What do you think?

I agree with the book and author choices. As far as Tiger, buy the retail version, which will be compatible with any mac, ..........unless, that you find one on Ebay for your exact machine.
