Hi there,

I would definitely recommend the Dreamweaver MX from Macromedia which comes with quite the price tag. You can always do a search on Macupdate.com for Free web design software... I'm sure you will be able to find a bunch of freeware / shareware.

id have to agree with SAM. Macromedia Dreamweaver is the way you should go 100%. it will cost you a little bit to start out with but the investment will be well worth it for years to come !

Hi gsmith,

Agree with the other posters that Dreamweaver is the current HTML editor of choice. But if funds are tight, you might take the open-source NVU 1.0: http://nvu.com out for a test spin. Currently NVU development is funded by http://linspire.com as a loss leader, and is free to users.

all the best,
...ben

PS. Adobe and Macromedia recently merged if I'm not mistaken, and I'm not sure if the dust has settled on the joint product bundlings and prices. For example, Amazon.ca currently lists Macromedia Studio 8 Win/Mac, a bundle of Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Contribute and FlashPaper, at $CDN 1,189.99. Amazon.ca also lists an update for existing Dreamweaver users to Dreamweaver MX 2004 at $CDN 239.
