Keep getting Error 1611 syncing iPad 1 to an iMac. All software upgraded. iPad is reset to factory settings. It retsores perfectly on my MabBook Pro, but not the iMac. Any suggestions?

Had this iPad been jailbroken in the past? Or has Tiny Umbrella or similar program been run on the iMac? The various jailbreaking processes often involve modifyig the /etc/hosts file on the Mac being used, in order to inhibit communications between the Mac and Apple's servers. This usually manifests as an iTunes Error 1013 when iTunes tries to update an IOS device and is unable to contact Apple's IOS servers, but otherwise might explain the symptoms you are seeing.
