I have Mac Pro for sale (I have sentiment to this machine since I wrote most of my thesis on it):
CPU: 2xG5 2GHz
RAM: 2GB DDR667MHz
HDD: 230GB SATA
Graphics: Dual Head DVI, ATI Radeon 9600 128MB
WiFi, FireWirte, USB, audio in/out
DVD: SuperDrive DL
Comes with original keyboard+optical mouse

My mistake. Must be this one:
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g5/stats/powermac_g5_2.0_dp_pci.html

Interesting; in US it is priced around $700US, so it seems I'm selling very cheap.

Those values on every mac are very very out to lunch. You should also probably edit your title to the proper name for the machine (Powermac G5)

Everymac.com is an authority on Mac models, not on price. The asking price is too high, given that Apple has abandoned the PowerPC (and so has the rest of the consumer market). The seller will likely have to negotiate. But this PowerMac is still a good computer for an older version of OS X or for a hacker to use with Linux or BSD.

Users can't edit their posts. There is a message about this:

Just because you think the price is "out-to-lunch", doesn't mean it is. Check around for used prices on these "abandoned" machines and you will find that the price is on-the-mark. Note - all US$ prices shown here - add 5% for CDN$, and don't forget shipping!

Mac Pro Online: POWERMAC G5 - DUAL 2.0GHZ - $787
WeLoveMacs: PowerMac G5 Dual Core Power 2.0GHz(512MB RAM/160GB HD/SD) - $599.95
UsedMac: M9032 Powermac G5 2GHz Dual 1GB 160GB Super Drive - $579
Gainsaver: Power Mac G5 Desktop Dual 2.0 GHz - bare - No RAM/HD/SD M9455LL/A - $422

So, jason9945, what is your criteria for "very very out to lunch"? And zmac, you have been saying Apple has abandoned the PPC in this and other topics lately. Sure, you can't run Snow Leopard, but many apps are still being maintained for PPC. Safari 4, iLife 09, iWork 09, Aperture 2, Final Cut Express (but not Pro), just to name a few, are all still supported for G4/G5 computers, and that's just the Apple SW products that are still supported, so how you feel the PPC has been "abandoned" is somewhat puzzling.

Good luck robrtr, and stick to your guns, you will find a buyer.

Happy Mac'ing!

You have as good an understanding of the current marketplace as I do -- if not a better one. I wish the seller success and his buyer a fair price so I won't discuss the matter here. If you'd like to start a topic about the value of PowerPC Macs, I would be happy to contribute to the discussion.

If the manufacturer no longer provides an operating system for the computer, it has been abandoned. Apple no longer provides an operating system for its PowerPC systems. (Even Ubuntu has abandoned PowerPC as an official platform -- and Ubuntu is a free OS.) Apple is legally required to provide technical support for a time. But PowerPC is a dead-end for the consumer.

Uh-oh, I feel a new thread coming on... see PPC abandoned?

I think Powermac G5s are great machines!

I have one and love it more than my MacBook Pro. However, thanks to Algonquin College liquidating their Powermac G5s and flooding the market, the prices for Powermac G5s are very deflated in the Ottawa area. I expect they will go back up, but I think it will be a while yet. Supply and demand.

They are beautiful machines, well designed and engineered, and work very well. If you don't need a power machine, these are way better than a comparably priced PC and will maintain their value much better over time.

I don't care what Apple does or does not support. They stopped supporting Powermac G4s too, but they are still very much in demand, at the right price. Especially the lower end versions and the higher end version. And look at what iMac G4s are going for! Not bad for a machine built in 2003 or 2004.

Hi,
Thanx for some good words.
Power Mac G5 are indeed a very reliable machines and they fit perfectly for tasks such as programing, graphics, daily typing-work,etc....
When I was looking for this model on sale to compare prices I could not find anything below $700US. I guess quality of the assembly
is still is a leading in the computer industry (how much used to cost when new? $3000? - similar to a new Intel MacPro now)
The prices are fair since it is not a typical PC-clone that are replsced usually every year.

I had many requests such as:"would u accept $500 and does it have Intel"? They do not bother even to read body of the add they
really assume possibility of having dual-cpu Inter Mac for this price!  Not even mentioning that used Intel version of this machine
would go easy for ~$2000.

I find very funny ppl. who are low-baling with out even understanding what is configuration of the computer.
Ppl. are spoiled by fast changing technologies, they buy the newest powerful computers just to use them as.....typing machines or internet browsers.
G5 is quite efficient CPU and together with well crafted software (Elements/Photoshop/Studio/Mapple) presents very good and professional
alternative for brand new (and expensive) Mac.
