It's official, Apple is opening a store in the Rideau Centre sometime around the end of summer!

Not much more info at this time...

Good News?

I'm so excited that there will be an actual Apple Store here in Ottawa. I know they give discounts for students that the dealers can't match. I think they also get product ahead of them. I'm thinking of applying for one of their jobs, has anyone else applied yet? I see they are requesting applications on the Apple site.

Student discounts are available at any campus store in Ottawa, that'd be Ottawa U and Algonquin for starters. Carleton, sadly (some might say stupidly) no longer has a computer store!!! Probably also available through CEGEP in Québec...

But, you're right, the Apple Store also honours student pricing, though only on a very limited range of Apple-branded stuff - the campus stores disount nearly everything. Where else can you get Adobe CS4 for $299? Not at the Apple Store!

Happy Mac'ing!

It is noted that Photoshop CS4  is  available at Algonquin for $299.
Is this a student version or the full consumer software?

Student pricing is only available to bone fide college and university students, or the staff and faculty members from any school. From the Apple Ed. Store:

QuoteEligible purchasers include students* who attend a provincially accredited college or university in Canada and faculty, educators, and staff who are employed by a provincially accredited college or university in Canada. Apple reserves complete discretion in making all eligibility determinations. This program is not for institutional purchases or resale. *Students may include, parents transacting on behalf of qualifying students.

The software is the same as what you would buy anywhere else, but, if you are a student, you are expected to pay the full price for any upgrades, etc. after you graduate.

Happy Mac'ing

I applied for the Creative position...waiting to hear.

I'll be great to have a store here. I love visiting the one in Toronto.
