I have a Linksys router and a few iMacs. I want to take the WEP key security off the system. Does anybody know how to do that on the router and the computer?

Any routers I have looked at have a "reset" button. It is usually a small hole with a pushbutton underneath it. Press and hold the pushbutton with a pencil, toothpick or unfolded paperclip and the router will revert to its factory settings. Have a look on the Linksys website to see the specifics for your model.

Why do you want to remove WEP protection? You should not run a wireless router unprotected. The fact that you are running Macs does not make a difference. Someone within range can easily piggy back on your connection and start sending spam or downloading porn. To your ISP, it will look like you are doing it.

Unfortunately, WEP encryption can be cracked in a few minutes. You should use WPA encryption to be (more) secure. But WEP is better than nothing!

I bought a new iPod Touch and i want it to connect to the network without any problems. Maybe it will. I get it in a week from Apple. I hope I am not blocked by the famous WEP thing.
