Getting Files from Old Mac OS 8.6 computer to New iMac OS 10.4.8

Hi,

It's my first day visiting your site and I am very impressed with the answers provided to posted questions. I have both a new iMac and a new cable internet connection, so as you can imagine, the thrills are many. But I have, and will have a few more, questions regarding the transition:

- I have a 'patch' cable that will connect the ethernet ports of both computers; would I be able to use it to transfer files from the old computer to the new? If so, what are the steps?

- I have a twelve-year-old and very reliable Epson Stylus colour inkjet printer which linked to the old Mac with a serial cable but was also capable of linking to a PC or an Amiga ('member those?) with a parallel cable; can adaptations be made that will allow its use with the new iMac? If so, what do I need and how do I do it? If not, can anyone make solid recommendations; I would go wireless.

- Same basic story as above with an Astra1220 scanner, but with a SCSI connection. Same questions.

- Same basic story as above with an Iomega Zip 100 drive; actually two: one internal, and one external having a SCSI connection. Same questions.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Ron

What exactly is the model of the "Old Mac OS 8.6 computer"?

Macliker

My old computer running Mac OS 8.6 is a clone built about eleven years ago by Power Computing, called the Power Tower Pro 225; it has a 604e processor (just thought I'd get that in there although I suspect that is irrelevant). It has no USB nor Firewire ports and so that is why I am asking if I might use the ethernet connection to accomplish subject task.

So, what do you think?
