Would having more RAM speed up the conversion of MPEG-2 files to MPEG-4 files?

Hi,

I converted several 2 gigabyte MPEG-2 files to MPEG-4 files, but this took an incredibly long time to do. I am doing this on a 2 Ghz iMac G5 with 1 gigabyte of RAM. Would having 2 gigabytes of RAM speed up the conversion process?

Thanks!

It might help a little bit, but really when doing that kind of conversion it is brute processing power that makes the difference.  I always say more RAM is better though. So I would say it's all comes back to how much you are willing pay for a small speed increase.
