1 - WWDC21 Highlights - with David Rhynas
David provided a high level overview at what was announced at the recent online Worldwide Developers Conference, the week of June 7th.  Apple is revamping their entire ecosystem which we sometimes forget not only includes iOS and macOS, but iPad Os, watchOS and tvOS. And they are all integrated to work together.

While no one capability is necessarily earth shaking, the combination does represent a steady improvement. Any one feature could warrant a full presentation when we resume our meetings in September.

You can see David's remarks in his presentation below, plus additional insights in the following two links.

Some may not be aware that Apple also provides comprehensive iOS User Guides for each iOS release; these are available for free from Apple Books. For example, the User Guide for iPadOS 14.6 is 713 pages long!

During the course of the discussion, two highly recommended references came up that may well be the subject of a future MUGOO presentation.

Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport

Both are available from the Ottawa Public Library

2 - 14 unknowns about your iPad - with LeRoy Lees
ScreenCastsONLINE is an online subscription service with easy to follow video tutorials, helping you to keep up-to-date with all of your Apple devices and applications.  LeRoy provided a presentation overview of one particularly helpful episode: 14 Tips & Tricks for iOS 14.  This was followed by a shared screening of the episode.

You can see LeRoy's overview presentation in the attachment below.

Here are three of the useful tips:

How to quickly select, move, delete multiple emails on iPhone and iPad with two-finger tap:
1. Open the default Mail app and the inbox you'd like to manage
2. Give a two-finger tap on any of your emails to enter edit mode
3. Use a two-finger drag to select multiple messages
4. At the bottom of your iPhone or iPad, tap Mark, Move, or Trash

How to attach a saved document to an email:
1. Tap in the email where you want to insert the document, then tap the Expand Toolbar button in the format bar above the keyboard.
2. Tap the Insert Attachment button above the keyboard, then locate the document in Files.
3. In Files, tap Browse or Recent at the bottom of the screen, then tap a file, location, or folder to open it.
4. Tap the document to insert it into your email.
5. You can also drag a file to your email to attach it to the email.

How to make PDFS on an iPhone or iPad:
1. Tap the Share icon (or the reply/forward button in the Mail app).
2. Choose the Print icon in the bottom row of the iOS share sheet (the black and white icons).
3. Ignore the printer selection at the top, and instead go straight to the preview image at the bottom go the screen. Pinch and zoom out on the little preview thumbnail to turn everything into a PDF.
4. Tap the new Share icon to save/export/share your new PDF.

Neil then demonstrated an even simpler way to create a PDF.
