Setting up a website using MAMP

I'm in the process of trying to set up a website using a genealogy program called TNG. In order to test it out on my own Mac, I have to install MAMP and have TNG run with MAMP on my Mac. I'm having a few problems getting this up and running. Could anyone recommend someone with the technical knowledge to help me set with this. I would be happy to pay someone help me get started

I assume that at some point you will have this hosted on a server, and not just a local machine. If so, just skip directly to the server. The configs for a "real" server and your local machine could be very different.
