$15 GeForce 2 MX 32MB AGP Graphics Card (supports Quartz Extreme, good upgrade from ATI Rage 128 Pro)

Do you happen to have any idea whether this would work in a PowerMac G5 dual 2GHz machine?

Thanks,
Jason

geastman

No idea, and the G5 would have shipped with a more powerful card.

jbenwell

Thanks for your reply. It did ship with a pretty nice card, but it has stopped working (kernel panics in WindowServer). Looking for a replacement.

Uh, probably a subject for another thread, but the original G5 (Power Mac G5, not a Mac Pro) can use the Mac versions of these cards:  NVIDIA GeForceFX 5200 Ultra, GeForce 6800 GT DDL, GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL, ATI Radeon 9600 XT, or Radeon 9800 XT, later versions can use the NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL, ATI Radeon 9600, Radeon 9650, or Radeon X850 XT, in increasing order of cost. Difficult to find, I usually have to get them mail-order from the US. I think the cheapest card that will work is the 5200Ultra 4/8X AGP Pro, and they go for about $100-$150. They MUST be the Mac versions of these cards, unless you know someone who is good at re-flashing with a Windows box, in which case the cards get way cheaper, like $50-100!!!

Like I said, this should be another thread...

Merry Christmas/Season's Greetings!
