Question about Upgrade Path from OS X 10.1.2 to 10.2.x

Hi Everyone,

As you can see by my handle, I'm a big, wet-behind-the-ears, green-as-can-be newbie on Macs, so forgive me if this question sounds dumb.

I need to know what the upgrade path for a G4 from OS X 10.1.2 to 10.2.x (or even 10.3)

Can I go directly from 10.1.2 to 10.2, or do I need to go to something like 10.1.8 first?

Unfortunately I have no budget to put into this, but I heard that non-major revision upgrades are at no cost.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Apple does not offer a free upgrade from 10.1 to 10.2 or 10.3.

Free upgrades are things like 10.3.1 to 10.3.8.

Nu2Mac, I think you misunderstood what Apple considers major releases.  10.2 and 10.3 are major releases. 10.2.1 - 10.2.8 are minor releases.

According the Apple support paqe you can go directly to 10.3 from another version of OSX.  If you skip 10.2, you will save the money of buying it.  I just upgraded a machine from 9.2 to 10.3 and it worked just fine.
