Bluetooth keyboard battery life
A member is experiencing short battery life with a new 2-AA Apple bluetooth keyboard. The advice was to make an appointment with the Apple Rideau Genius Bar.
 - While perhaps not applicable in this case, it was noted that users who travel with their Apple bluetooth keyboard need to remember to turn it off when in transit:
     - Press and hold the On/Off switch located on the right side of the battery compartment for at least three seconds.
     - The LED indicator turns on when you press the button and turns off when the keyboard has turned off.
Note. Another possibility is that it may not be the keyboard at all, but rather the computer it is being used with. It may be too aggresively using Bluetooth. If the computer being used with the keyboard is a Mac, ensure it has the latest Software Updates (from under the Apple menu).

Setting a default save-to folder
A member noted that when they went to save their documents, the standard file dialog never seemed to be offering to save where they wanted to save. There were two suggestions:
 - Use the 3rd party app, Default Folder X, to either set favourite folders, or even to automatically associate a favourite folder with each application.
 - In addition to the QuickTime movie on the St.Clair Software site, see also about 11 minutes into Screencastsonline SCO0179 for a tutorial.
 - Per application, some apps let you set a default folder. For example for MS Word 2010
     - By default, Word saves documents to the Documents folder. To change the default folder:
     - From the Word menu, select Preferences... .
     - In the Preferences window, click File Locations.
     - From the list, select Documents, and then click Modify... .
     - Navigate to the folder you want to use, and then click Choose.

US streaming sites blocking Non-US IP addresses
A member was looking for the NBC show: Who Do You Think You Are? NBC restricts streaming to US IP addresses. Two suggestions:
 - Look for the show on Canadian sites such as CityTV.com
 - Try a VPN service which gives you a "US" IP address. Note these may or may not work. Some US content suppliers such as Hulu also block the US IP addresses of well-known VPN providers such as the free HotSpotShield
 - Note the VPN approach may also help for accessing streaming US radio stations blocking their content such as CBS' WBZ Boston
