I would modify the above response somewhat - don't buy a straight Windows keyboard, make sure you're purchasing a Mac-compatible one instead. Little things like the command and option keys being reversed, and function keys which don't map to the Mac's "special" functions, are a minor annoyance at first, but it eventually will make your fingers somewhat schizophrenic, especially if you're a touch-typist. Mac-compatible keyboards are easier to find than they used to be, and maybe $10 more than an equivalent PC keyboard. I can recommend MacAlly keyboards without hesitation, and some Logitech keyboards as well - the ones that are Mac-compatible, i.e. they have the little smiley-Mac symbol on the box.

Good Luck and...

Happy Mac'ing!

I use a standard Windows entry-level Logitech keyboard with a Mac Mini, and am amazed at how well it works. Or maybe, more honestly, I am amazed that it works at all! <grin> My Mac Mini recognizes the Windows key on the keyboard as the Mac's Command (aka four-leaf clover) key.

But I can also attest to Dan's advice. I do grind mental gears switching between my Windows-Keyboard+mini and my MacBook Pro keyboard, because the location of the Command and Option keys are reversed. There are key remapping programs such as KeyRemap4MacBook, but I've never tried them and so can't attest to their efficacy.

When I next shop for an external keyboard I will follow Dan's advice and look for a Mac-specific keyboard.
