NOT using iTunes

I don't like iTunes. If you are not using iTunes to listen to music on OS X, which software are you using?

Yes, I should have qualified that more clearly, and that would be correct seven out of ten times! Seriously though - what happened to all the other players? I too am not thrilled with iTunes persistent, yet subtle, iTunes Store presence. Anyone beyond the iTunes-lovin' 173 people who have already not responded?

Is it specifically something to play your mp3's on OS X that you're looking for? Or is it an alternative to iTunes with respect to transferring songs to your iPod? If the latter, here's one list I came across:

On the other hand if it's a replacement mp3 player on your mac that you are looking for, I did do a quick search on www.versiontracker.com/macosx for 'mp3 player' and 'music player' and there are definitely still a few 3rd-party freeware and shareware music players to try.  By way of history, before iTunes 1.0, the Mac mp3 music players of choice were SoundJam (Casady & Greene) and Audion (Panic software). Thanks for the information, Ben. I want something to play music that doesn't throw advertising at me and that  supports FLAC and Ogg. I've been using some Gnome software through Fink, as well as VLC.
