Annoying little blip in my browser

Hi, I'm using Chrome right now.

Every once in a while, I see a little circle (or something, it's so fast it's hard tell) dart in from the side of the window, then quickly retract.  This all takes place in about .5 secs.

I'm pretty sure I'm not 100% crazy, i.e. divorced from reality, so what the heck is this.  Sometimes it comes in from the right side, i.e. random.

This is only an occasional phenomenon.  I think I used to have it with Safari, although I'm not 100% sure.
