PowerPC G5 waking from sleep issue

When my G5 is asleep I tap on the spacebar and it wakes up. But these days the spacebar tapping routine ain't working.

I have to press the power button on the front to awaken it.

Any idea why this suddenly changed?

Thanks.

Hey Boyyo,

Is your keyboard plugged into a USB hub, or directly into the G5's USB port? Often a hub can cause this problem.

Also, check your System Preferences/Energy Saver panel. Sometimes setting the "Put the computer to sleep..." to anything but "Never" can cause the "deep sleep" that only the power button can disturb.

Some incremental upgrades seem to have caused headaches with the power management units in many G4/5 models, have you recently run any security updates from Apple?

Other than that, I guess you can live with it, but the mystery remains!

Happy Mac'ing,

Dan
