Hi Friends
Here is a Canon XL 14X Zoom lens (for Canon XL cameras), with a Tiffen Polarizer filter and a Tiffen 1-A filter, a spare lens hood, and lens bag.

Yes, I am selling this Canon XL 14 X Zoom lens, including accesories, very cheap - $390 (orginal price: $3,236.75), but there are two reasons.

1. The manual is missing. I simply cannot find the manual that came with the lens.

And most importantly -
2. Although the optics are absolutely perfect, the lens mount is perfect, the barrel is unscratched, the overall lens is super clean, not marred in any way, and the focus, aperture, and zoom mechanisms work perfectly, the original zoom stick broke off during transit and the zoom stick thread was damaged.

PLEASE EMAIL FOR PHOTOS! We made a replacement zoom stick mount. HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE: this is our SECOND zoom stick mount replacement - the first replacement failed. Although this replacement mount so far has remained attached, I won't lie and I honestly predict that it too will detach at some point.

This means that I have for sale an absolutely perfect lens, except that it will probably require another replacement zoom stick if you don't want to simply rotate the zoom mechanism by hand or use a servo motor.

This lens was always stored in its original packaging and was never used without at least the 1-A filter covering the front element.

I fully guarantee the lens optics and will allow a ten-day full-refund return period if you test the lens and are not completely happy with the operation and pictures from this lens.

Everything in the photos (emailed at your request) is included in this sale. - original packaging, serial number card, warranty card, lens bag, two filters, lens hood and spare lens hood, etc..

This lens was purchased in November, 2000, and has been in storage the last 5 years.

Here are some comments about this lens, from dvinfo.net:

The 14x is all manual. It has no zoom servo, no AF, but it does have a manual aperature ring. I have seen external zoom servos for this lens for sale on ebay. I do not recall the Mfg. The price was around $1000, which is pretty steep considering the lens goes for around $700 on ebay. I use a long stick, attached with a large rubber band. The rubber band streches a little. This makes the starts and stops a little smoother. The 16x is a current, production lens. The 14x was replaced by the 16x, but some dealers may still have new ones.

I own the 14x Canon lens and my subjective opinion is the 14x is sharper than the 16x XL lens (white). I come from a film background and believe there is more to an image than the specs. The color accuracy, rendition of skin tones, sharpness, contrast etc. all combine to make the image. I have not measured the performance of this lens with a waveform monitor or resolution charts. But, rather compared side by side images on very high resolution broadcast monitors. I can see a difference.

I have the 14x. I think you will find it enables you to be more creative. It's really nice to really see and control (easily) depth of field. The 14x is a very smooth lens.

I bought the 14X and never bothered with the 16X stock lens. Recently my production company shot a hypnotist act with my Xl1 and 2 XL1s'. Garbage lenses apparently come stock on these cameras. After two years of using the 14X not knowing anything else, indeed I would have to say invest in the 14X lens. The stock lens appeared out of focus and foggy.
