Title: LF:1GB RAM for Powerbook G4 1.33 15"
Post by: fastlensfoto on March 28, 2006, 04:11:24 PM
I'm looking for Ram for my Powerbook. 1GB minimum. I think it's a 200pin SO-DIMM PC 2700 SDRAM. Or anyone suggest a good third party manufacturer?
What's a good brand.
Thanks

Hi There,

You may already know this but in case not...

Unless you are really lucky you probably won't find an Apple spec one used these days. Maybe if someone was selling their PB and the module separately or if their PB died... but otherwise who would let one go?

Also, the 15" PB's are notoriously finicky about RAM. My advice would be to suck it up and buy a new module from a reputable dealer that will return it if it doesn't work. Even if it appears to work initially you may find you get random kernel panics, application freezes, problems booting, etc., over time so make sure you can use it for a while before deciding it works properly. Therefore the return policy needs to be a good one.

John

MacNorth is right. Try    http://www.canadaram.com/          They are highly recommended. The ram is tested,....and they have an excellent return policy. Try Samsung, the same that Apple uses. These are 2.5 ( low power )
