Title: Column views in Mac OS X 10.1.5
Post by: rneale on February 16, 2005, 12:56:02 PM
I want every window to be in column view, but when I open a new window or double-click the hard drive, it always defaults to icon view.

Any way to ensure that I always get column view?

In later versions of Mac OS X, under Preferences in the Finder on the General tab there is a checkbox labeled "open new windows in column view".  Does a similar thing exist in 10.1?

Thanks, I'll check later.

I have an additional problem in that I can't install Mac OS X 10.2. Currently running 10.1.5.

It starts to install, gets half-way through and then hangs. Tried it about three times over the past week with no joy.

I believe that OS X 10.2 or later can only be installed on a machine that came with a built-in usb port.  I am running OS X 10.3.8 on the original Bondi Blue 233MHz iMac with 288 MB RAM and am very pleased with it's performance.
