Hi everyone,
Since I have been using Sympatico services in 2004, it has been an awful experience to say the least, read on let let me in on your thing.
Support : There was no support for the Mac at the beginning in 2004, most of the uselful information I got, was from web sites such as " EhMac ", since I gave up on calling them in mid 2005, I have no idea what the status is on there support is ???
Browsing : I use Safari ( I know, there is better ), nada in support either, plus the speed varies ( slows down ), depending on the time of day in use, the best and cleanest I got, was in the wee hours of the night ( like 3 AM ), and on a DSL Ultra speed connection ( 5 mbs, or so they say ), this should not happen. When I did switch from the 3 mbs to the Ultra 5 mbs, I saw very little speed in browsing, but it did increase in Uploads and downloads.
Mail : I use Mail ( I know, there is better, but I like basic ), it takes for ever to retrieve my mail, and a lot of time, the system is down, plus they keep asking me for my password to retrieve my mail all the time, what's up with that ???
Any one else having issues with Sympatico, highSpeed or Ultra ???
To be fair, here is my system info, G4 DP 867 mhz, 2 gig Ram, OS 10.3.9, and I presently use Sympatico's Speedstream 5200 DSL modem.
At some point, they shipped me the Speedstream 5600 ( if I am not misstaken on the number ) Wireless Router modem Free ( WOW that's a first ), but they offered no support on the Mac, So what's the use, I shipped it back, and they sent me the old 5200 again, of witch works just fine ( but speed Su&^% ) I was told it's this modem they also use for Ultra speed, what say you ???
I am going to switch service providers ( ??? ), and right now, the best deal I got, is from " B2B2C " http://www.b2b2c.ca/site.asp
NO CONTRACT, no connection fee's, you can supply your own modem, High speed 3 mbs, for $29.95 / Month, High speed 5 mbs, for $39.95 / Month
Since I pay from my own pocket, all the pennies count.
Symaptico's fees, Ultra $49.95 plus the monthly modem charge.
I did look into Magma, they are good, but also costly, even more when you add the bells and wistles.
Although in my area there is Videotron, the speed is wondeful, but it still does not have a junk mail filter ( unless you pay through the gills ), the service is intermitent ( meaning it cuts out now and then, when you need it the most ) and by the time you add up add the bells and whistles, it costs big buck.
Any and all feedbacks on this issue is needed and gladly accepted, it might also help some other Mac users in figuring things out the ISP services and issues.
Regards,
Denis
PS : Sorry for posting in this Topic, but it seems to be getting the most if not all the attention.

I have been using them for almost 2 years now. Very pleased with service. Originally chose them as they were the only ones that could give me highspeed out here in the rural boondocks. Not unusual to to download near 200 kb/s.
Brian
I had some issue with them as well, when I started with them i reached sometimes speeds of 100kb/s now, a couple of months later it went down to a maximum of 30kb/s and now it's 50, I don't get it. Not to mention all the random disconnections I get...
I also get pages that hang there for a few seconds while they are loading, any of you have that ???
For those on other ISP's DSL's, do you get these problems, or am I the only one in town having them ???
