Title: request help for friend re expiring site-certificate
Post by: MHaliburton on April 12, 2018, 12:59:16 PM
A senior gentleman of my acquaintance devotes all his time to research and advocacy for clean environment and sustainable technology, with the non-profit group Planetary Association for Clean Energy. He is in difficulty as his site certificate will expire mid-month. He needs help with that and with getting TSL or whatever it is that will give the site a lock icon.

But he told me today that a computer donated to his group is incompatible with the web page that was set up, and he really doesn't know what to do. Unfortunately that whole group is Windoze-based! I am not sure to whom I should refer him. Do any of you tech-savvy people know what Windows technical consultants would be able to resolve issues of compatibility and also set up the server with the security aspects it needs? Hoping for referral to someone competent who won't overcharge. Probably this needs to be done on-site ? not sure which computer(s) are involved.

If so, please email Andrew "paceincnet {at} gmail (dot) com"  or phone in the 236 (downtown exchange) with suffix 6265. . (I am trusting this site's security by putting contact info on here.) Please put "site certification" in the email header if you contact him. Thanks.)

He's far from alone in this site-certificate expiry issue: today I wanted to look up something on the Ontario Human Rights organization and got error message that the site certificate had expired and Firefox wouldn't go there.

Thanks if anyone can help.

Has anyone had dealings with this group said to specialize in computer security?

Concern to get needed work done but low budget to accomplish it... I sent this option to Andrew, so that he can at least enquire, and figure out if he can afford them.
