Suggestions were made to try connecting directly to see if the problemn could be isolated to the AirPlay connection.

Suggestion to connect, via USB, to iTunes and try restoring
to factory settings.
PS. It was noted in iTunes 11, the left-hand navigation panel
can be restored by View -> Show SideBar (Option-Command-S)

The NS prefix on developer conference names is a reference to the Code frameworks that have the NS prefix. The code frameworks get the NS prefix from their NextStep/Sun origins.
