Hello,
I have no experience recapping or doing most anything electronic. I have a Mac IIci and a PB180 that look like they're needing to be recapped. Is this a hard thing to do for a neophyte?
I did an eMac a few years back and it was a job even I needed some help with (i have good soldering skills). You need a good quality iron that you can set at the right temp for modern printed cct boards. My old iron wasn't hot enough I believe.
Anyhow, my theory is if it's going to be thrown out, you have nothing to lose by playing around with it and trying to see if you can repair it, or at least learn from it.
BTW, I have an old Power Mac G4 700mghz I can let you have. I don't have a monitor though and not sure if it has a hard drive, I would have to check.
I'm in Aylmer..
