Title: Fans on PowerMac G5 rev up when asleep
Post by: Boyyo on November 24, 2011, 12:11:45 PM
Ladies, genitalmen,

Fans on PowerMac G5 noisily rev up when asleep for a while. Have to press the power button to shut it down as it won't wake up.

Any ideas on how to fix this little problemette?

Cheers.

Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5, Mac OS X 10.4.11

Sounds like you need to reset the Power Management Unit (PMU/CUDA).

Here's a link to the official Apple procedure:

Let us know if that does the trick!

Happy Mac'ing!
