I am wondering if someone can help me with what should be an easy task to do in Pages 2009 (I used to be able to do this quite easily in Word before I crossed over to the Mac world!)
I have created a table in Pages 2009 and I would like to place an image in one of the cells; the cell is square (same height and width) and the image is a photo in iPhoto which is also square (same height and width). BUT I would like the image to fill the cell exactly, that is with no white border showing.
I click in the cell I want to fill and then "Insert" and "Choose" the image (photo) from iPhoto. But it always ends up being centered in the cell with a small white border around it - and I am unable to resize it by dragging the edges. I can not seem to find any Inspector option allowing me to enlarge the photo sufficiently to fill the cell.
What am I missing?

Yeah, Pages is a great program for simple page layout, it can be quirky, and obstinate, but there is a way to accomplish what you're trying to do. You will have to place the image on its own, outside the table, then move it to the back - behind the table. Make the table transparent, or at least the cell you want the image to show in, and position/mask the image exactly where you want it. Easier said than done - but a little patience will get it working. I hope you don't have a lot of images to place this way...
I still haven't switched up to iWork '11, so I don't know if they've changed this, but your intuition is right - the way you're trying to do it should work - but Pages inexplicably adds "padding" to the cell contents that, it seems, cannot be controlled or removed.
Anyone know if this has changed?
