Title: Anyone have a Mac SCSI interface I can use to retrieve old files?
Post by: wlunscher on June 25, 2011, 01:48:32 PM
My earlier post got an underwhelming response. So let me try this again.

I have an old 1 gig SCSI LaCie Q drive with a SCSI interface. It contains some old doc's I wanted to archive. I'm stuck because my old LC simply died, won't start, before I got around to transfering them to another PC over my network.

So I would really appreciate if someone still had a working SCSI interface through which I could transfer the files to a memory stick or CD.

Thank you.

Hello,

Do you still need to get those files?

I have a Adaptec SCSI Card (AHA-2930CU MAC) G3/G4 (PCI) if that's any help.

I have an old G3 PowerMac (Blue & White) and a G4 PowerMac (QuickSilver) kicking around in my basement that are looking to be useful.  Both were working fine the last time I used them quite a few years ago.  Hope they might be of some use.

With no-one replying I hadn't been back to this site for a while. I was happy to see a couple of responses today.

I'm not sure the Adaptec SCSI Card would be useful to me. I don't have a PCI Mac and my PCs wouldn't be able to understand Apple HFS. Thanks.

Borrowing a Powermac, however, would. I believe it does have a USB interface. My SCSI drive is only 1 GB (huge in its day); the files could easily fit on a memory stick. I'll send you a separate email. Maybe we can arrange something. Thanks.

Thanks to Boyyo for your card and MacMoore for use of your GS.
Mission accomplished. The files were successfully transferred to memory stick.
Hard to believe that, in it's time, that 1G drive was considered HUGE.

Thanks again,
