Good Afternoon to all
Did you really think that you had at last got rid of me,HA!
Everything was going just fine with the Safari Browser.
I then get a notice of an update.
So, i said to myself i had better follow thru in order to prevent myself more problems.
The update said that you need to update your Safari Browser to version #5.
And i did so.
I now get a notice that tells me as follows.
Community Toolbar
Were sorry, but the Safari Browser version your are currently using
does not support the Community Toolbar.
------------------------------
If you do not know what they are talking about neither do i. I am under the impression that i may have to erase the Safari Browser that i have at the moment
and go back and re-install the one I had before.
Is this not crazy, i ask you.
I have notice a difference in bar at the top, i use to be able to know where i was at (Website).
Now the bar is always blank.
Say hello to your Love ONES
Thank you for your time, and for reading this
I hope nobody says (HO, HO, not him again )
Plume
It's not Safari, but something else that you have installed or that has been installed. Something for FaceBook, perhaps?
Open Safari > Help > Installed Plug-Ins. Do you see "Community Toolbar" there?
Whatever is showing the message will be in the Applications folder or the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder.
Hi Plume,
Out of the frying pan, into the fire! Have no fear, you do not need to uninstall the new Safari 5, or restore Safari 4. Instead, you need to remove the Community Toolbar extension in one of the following ways (this is from Conduit, the creators of Community Toolbar):
To uninstall the toolbar from Safari on Mac, please do the following:
Run /Applications/Toolbars/Community Toolbar/Uninstall.app
In case the Uninstall application fails you need to delete the following:
Open the Finder application, and do the following:
1. Browse to: Machintosh HD -> Library -> Application Support -> Conduit -> Plugins
2. Remove Plugins directory.
3. Browse to: Machintosh HD -> Library -> InputManagers - > CTLoader
4. Remove CTLoader directory.
5. Browse to: Machintosh HD -> Library -> LaunchAgents -> com.conduit.loader.agent.plist
6 .Remove com.conduit.loader.agent.plist file
7. Browse to: Applications -> Toolbars
8 .Remove Toolbars directory
9. Browse to: Machintosh HD -> Library -> ScriptingAdditions -> ct_scripting.osax
10 .Remove ct_scripting.osax directory
Hope you understand the directions and this works for you. You should only need to follow the numbered directions if the first step fails, or if you have no folder named "Toolbars" in your Applications folder.
Good luck, and let us know if this solves your problem.
Good Evening Dan
I've manage to get to Conduit and when opened there are two Folders( One named Plugins and the other named Toolbarinfo)
Is it the one named Plugins folder only that you want me to delete, and not touch the one marked Toolbarinfo
Please let me know.
Have a good evening
Plume

Good Afternoon Dan
I did just like you said and that window does not show up anymore.
I am also the Website names are now appearing in the toolbar, which is how it is suppose to work.
You see how simple it all is, when you do as your told. HA!
Thank you, thank you again.
Hope i do not have to bother you for awhile
I am very appreciative.
Be very careful crossing the street, you are a person in need.
Have a very, very good evening Dan
Say hello for me, to all the people that i do not know.
Plume
What is this application? What does it do and how does it get installed?
Good Evening z-mac
If you go back, you will remember that i was having so much trouble trying to re-install Safari.
Dan then told that i needed to install my updates and by doing so i was able to re-install Safari.
Then i get an update telling me to install Safari 5.
I did so,but the toolbar at the top of the Safari Page whereas it use to tell me what website i was at was no more.
So Dan told me to eliminate the Conduit Plugins and the CTloader and by doing so the writing came back in the Toolbar, so i was able to know what website i was at.
I could not of figured that out by myself without Dan's knowledge of the situation.
So i must thank him again for i would not of been able to solve the problem by myself.
I love to tinker with my Computer as long as things are simple.
So i'm not afraid to admit that without you people and that includes you to z-mac i would be lost.
Thank you again for all the help
and especially not giving up on me.
Hope you have a very good evening z-mac
Plume
QuoteI could not of figured that out by myself without Dan's knowledge of the situation.
Nor could I! Dan provided you with excellent help.
I am curious to know how this program was installed and what it does. I had never heard of it.
It's a type of so-called social-media web "enhancement". Similar to other "toolbar" enhancements, users are prompted to download the Conduit Community Toolbar in their browser so that Conduit's content-providers can deliver "up-to-the-minute" alerts about their products or services, or even deliver widgets, etc. For more info, see their website at www.conduit.com. I'm guessing it's not compatible with Safari 5 and that's why Plume is suddenly confronted with this message upon upgrading from Safari 4.
Happy Mac'ing!
Dan
