I just bought a Magic Mouse (in Florida) and have discovered my Mac is not Bluetooth enabled. What do I need, how much does it cost, and can I install it myself?
Thanks in advance,
Neil
Hmm, I would have thought your particular mac came with Bluetooth. When you select System Preferences... from under your Apple menu, do you see a Bluetooth preference pane? If not, what is your Mac model number: Apple Menu > About This Mac > More Info > Model Identifier
AFAIK, the magic mouse requires that your Mac be running OS X 10.5.8. But that may be only to access the special gesture features -- it might still function as a basic mouse if you are running an earlier OS.
No, Power Mac G5s and Mac Pros, until recently, had no wireless and no Bluetooth unless you ordered them. Yes you can add one, but you must bring it to an Apple dealer to have the Apple Bluetooth module installed internally. You can still buy a Bluetooth "dongle" that plugs into a USB port though, and that requires no installation. D-Link sells one for about $30-40, and there are several others available. Hope that answers your question...
Happy Mac'ing!
Dan
