Title: Apple Netbook
Post by: Macmalade on December 04, 2009, 11:18:22 AM
I am curious...  Am I the only person on earth praying everyday for an Apple Netbook or I am already a dinosaur who can't adapt to the size of iPhone/ iPod Touch and virtual keyboard?  I just saw an HP 110-1115 for less than $350 + tax.  Gorgeous, rugged, and fast!  Probably hackable to OS X.  Google is about to lauch its own OS on a netbook.  The netbook market is still on the rise....  I am on my knees.     (I just had to say it out loud)

Whenever the urge to buy a netbook grips me, I just fire up my iBook G3 or my Powerbook G4, on each of which I have installed OS X, and I experience the performance I'm guessing an Intel Atom processor-equipped netbook driving OS X would provide. And then I happily go back to my 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro.

I guess it really depends on what you want to run on the netbook.

For more portable computing than my MacBook Pro provides, my iPhone 3G is always with me. Like what I imagine a netbook would be, it's slow --- so I'm counting the days to next summer and what it'll bring in the way of some sort of iPhone 3GS++.

I've got a couple friends who are running OSX on Dell Netbooks. They love it, they don't use it for any sort of work, but they make great little travel machines. I've played with one of them and i think it would still be much faster than an iBook though. The main problem is the build of most netbooks, they're crappy to feel in your hands.
