This is a good CPU. Its "code name" is Yonah -- it's a Merom with one core switched off.
I pulled the CPU from my first generation Intel Mac Mini and then I used it in a 32-bit M-Windows XP desktop box for a long time. I've now upgraded the XP box to a Core 2 Duo so I can put more RAM in the PC.
The Yonah performs well and handles multimedia without a problem. It's better than any AMD single-core CPU and you *can* use it as a desktop CPU if you use the right mainboard.
Send me a message if you're interested.
Hi,
What kind of motherboard does it require? Mark
The Yonah and Merom CPUs are supported by mainboards with these chipsets:
945GM, 945PM, 945GT, 965GM, 965PM, 965GT
I have an MSI 945GT Speedster.
