Thanks for the rapid reply. I have an Airport Extreme Base Station which acts as a router and has its own password which I change approx every 6 months. In addition I have Intego antiviral, antispam etc. and run scans weekly and after updates of Definitions.
I also have activated the firewall detection prevention mode. Inspite of all this I may have been the victim of email spoofing. Notified my ISP and changed passwords but no satisfactory answer to what happened.
I have run complete scans using Intego software without finding anything.
How would a user identify a spoof in a log ... most of it is unintelligible?
This is the second episode; I did not respond to the spoof the first time and it went away after a few days, but fell for the second attempt. There was no malfunction of my computer or software but I had given up a password. It is easy to fall for these games even if you are being careful.
Is a professional scan worthwhile?
I am sure this happens to a lot of users but we just let it go by because it is a lot of trouble for everyone.
Sorry to belabour the point, but my confidence has been shaken.
Dan D.
What scanning software can be used to scan my system to detect any problems.
