Title: warning about cheap macbook pro on Kijiji and other sites
Post by: AylmerQc on March 26, 2009, 08:45:54 PM
Just saw this ad: Macbook Pro PRISTINE condition. (2 months)" Ad on Kijijiā€  for $600.
Naturally I got in touch with the seller. It turns out, and I suspected so, that it's a scam similar to one I encountered a few months ago re a newish Volvo for a very good price. It's the same story. The guy needs money and is out of town so you can't see it but you can send the money...
Just thought I'd give a heads up.

Thanks. When I was shopping for a computer last year I contacted a couple of these guys. They'll come up with some crazy stuff to try to convince you that they are real, but usually the "I'm in <country> for <purpose>, send money and I'll send the <item>" line is what they'll use. If I happen to notice a blatant scam such as a $600 MacBook Pro I usually mark it as spam if the website allows it.
