A printer is suddenly printing everything in Mirror Image. How do I fix this?
Thanks

What kind of printer? Which version of OS X?
1. Reset the printing system. In Print Centre or Printer Setup Utility, you'll find "reset printing system" under the File menu. In Leopard you have to go to the Print & Fax pane in the System Preferences, then right-click on the list of printers and a menu will popup from which you can select "reset printing system" (huh? why'd Apple make Printer setup MORE complicated?).
2. Add your printer again. Use OS X's built-in drivers if your printer is supported, or use a more up-to-date version if your OS is old. Don't use the drivers that came with your printer - check your printers website for the correct version. This can be complicated for EPSON printers - be sure you get the right version if you do download drivers - i.e., the right version of the printer driver for your version of the OS, 10.3, 10.4, 10.5, etc.
That should do it, generally. Still printing mirror images? If it is consistent - you can fiddle with the PPD file to correct it. If the above doesn't fix your problem, I'll explain how to do that. Let us know...

Thanks for the help. It is an old computer a Performa 5200CD with OS 9.1 and the printer is an Apple Stylewriter2400. I have been trying to help the person over the telephone so any specific instructions are really appreciated as my own computer has SS 10.5.5 and I have to try and remember what/where things are on her computer.
Thanks again
Mary
Okay, OS 9? Forget all the preceding info because OS 9 is totally different animal, not even a cat - a dogcow I believe. There may be an explicit option somewhere in the Page Setup... or Print... dialogs - and I don't remember if there is or not - to print "mirrored". This was an option for "backprinting" on t-shirt or other transfer sheets so the image would come out right-reading when viewed from the other side. It may even be an application-specific option.
Re-installing the correct version of the printer driver may be necessary if the previous info doesn't apply. You will find it here under StyleWriter 2400:

There are two download options. The original installer was four floppy disks, and you can download the disk images of each of the four disks, or, you can download a net-install version - all four floppies in one disk image. Use the first option if you have to use floppy disks - i.e. the Performa doesn't have an internet connection or CD reader. Use the other option to email the file or put on a CD.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Dan
Reinstalling the printer disks worked.
Great! Weird, but... Great!
