Title: LF Airport Card for iMac
Post by: Dan Millar on September 18, 2008, 01:46:04 PM
Hi, I'm looking for an airport card for an original graphite 400Mhz iMac.

Will trade, buy, whatever...

Thanks,

Dan

Hi,

I Have an Old Airport Card and a Airport Extreme Card not sure how to tell if they work on your MAC.

Thanks for your reply, I would be most interested in the Extreme Card - if it will fit an iMac...

I'll do a little research and get back to you!

Hi Dan,

I can tell you about this. I recently did all the research. The Airport card will work with a 400 MHz iMac, however it requires an adapter. I haven't seen any here in Ottawa, but I think there are some in Toronto. I bought my 1 GHz MDD from a guy who sells them. I can put you in touch if you like. The airport extreme will not work in a G3 iMac, nor will it work in most power Mac G4s. I have a QS dual 1 GHz where it won't work. I am using an airport card for that one.

However, old mac guy, I would love to have the airport extreme for my MDD, if Dan doesn't want it, and you still have it.

Let me know.

Cheers,

That's what I suspected, and yes, it's actually the carrier for the airport card I need more than an airport card. I think I have an airport card that will work - but no carrier. Ideally, I need to find a dead iMac that has the card still in it - so I DON"T need the extreme card either...

Happy Old Mac'ing!
