I have wanted to learn more about Macs and now I was given one so here are some of my questions. The tower has the Powerlogix processor and is presently bumped up to 900mhz or so. (that is the way I received it) My issue is when I try to update my web browser I cannot find any thing higher than the Safari 1.0 that will work with the OS X 10.2.8. After a short while the software has to shut down (ie safari or Explorer for Mac) then nothing will open. Has anyone been able to upgrade their browser or have any experience with the Powerlogix card?
Trust me, this is the first of many questions to come.

hmm, it's a bit of rough intro to macs to use a G3 that's been updated by a 3rd-party processor card, in order to run OS X, as it's bound to have a few compatibility issues related to the processor card upgrade. Still, if you're a hobbyist that can be part of the challenge! I assume you've checked out http://www.powerlogix.com/ and have downloaded the latest and/or appropriate version of their CPU Director software, etc? Then with regards to your immediate problem of locating an alternative web browser, consider iCab, http://www.icab.de . iCab is often useful when the mainstream browsers no longer support older operating systems: iCab v3.x runs under OS X 10.1.5 as well as under OS Classic 9.x. iCab v2.x even runs under OS Classic v8.x!
