My Mail program marks the sent e-ms as junk. It also often puts mail in the junk folder even when the address is in my address list or previously accepted
e-ms. Did I miss a check box xomewhere?

Alas I don't use mail.app's junk filter, instead relying on the excellent SpamSieve (http://c-command.com/spamsieve/).
However, with respect to the use of mail.app's junk filter, I assume you have checked in mail.app preference's under
Rules as well as under the
Junk Mail settings?
Also the following is true in SpamSieve, and so I'm making an assumption that it may be true as well with Mail.app's built-in Junk Mail feature: If mail.app has automatically filed something in the Junk Mail folder that is
not Junk, you should highlight the message and correct its status using Mail.app's menu commands: Message > Mark > As Not Junk Mail, rather than manually moving the item out of the Junk Mail folder. This lets the mail filter 'learn'.
