so i just wanted to share with everyone my sad news.....i bought a AC power charger from radioshack and went to use it in the car today and i got this really werid message about my battery not having anymore power...then the ipod restarted and came up with the folder and the explanation mark.... went into diagnostic mode and i have found out when trying to run a HDD scan that it fails and no sounds come from the HDD so it looks like that lil charger has fried my ipod...not sure if i just got a bad one but id say stay away from the centrios ipod charger, unless you have the extended warrenty. luckly enough i did happen to purchase the extra warrenty so its off to futureshop i go to get my ipod fixed...i hope the dont scratch it up...
anyways just wanted to share my grief
Nobody has showed any intrest in the post but im still going to add to it.
So i sent the ipod in for service as of Wednesday April 20th and as of Thursday April 21st a new ipod is being sent out and my ticket is now closed. Talk about a good turn around time, hopefully i should have it in my hands today or maybe monday.
i bought an ipod at futureshop about 3 mths ago, but opted out on the warranty, i thought id purchase the ext. warranty through apple
but do you know if that situation happened to me for example, and i had the apple warranty, not the future shop, would apple do the same?
does anybody know the deal on that? who is responsible apple, or the manufacturer of the item that blew out the ipod?
does anybody know if you have to buy the ext. warranty from future shop at the time of the purchase, or is it like apple where you have the first year to buy the ext. warranty?
i have the furtureshop warrenty, now i just got my pod back today and im happy to say it was a quick turn around time !!! and its BRAND spanking new...and i have a 3rd Gen :) i was still within the original 1 year warrenty so mine went threw apple, now if its futureshop what they do as far as i know is they send it to apple threw them and pay for the cost of the repair however much it may be, or they replace it themselves. the thing is they dont have to replace it with an ipod they only have to replace it with a unit of compairable value...so you could end up with some creative unit or something or someone elses ipod that got returned at another store somewhere...its kinda shitty. I work at compusmart and you could purchase an extended warrenty with us on your ipod at anytime up until the last 30 days of the manufactor's warrenty, and we wouldnt swap it out with some other unit...it would be a swap in the store for another ipod ! for the normal ipod it would only cost your 49.99 plus tax for an extended year, the apple care warrenty will run you 89.99 plus tax
oh wow you work at compusmart, i purchased another ipod there just recently, in march. i bought the ipod photo 40 gig and again opted out on the warranty, because i figured id go through apple.
so i can go and still get the warranty!? is it $49.99 for the ipod photo as well?
