Those ".exe" files are applications for DOS/Windows, they don't contain any kind of data, unless they're self-extracting files like a zip archive - or a virus! There are conversion programs for just about any kind of data you want to convert to Mac - Graphic Converter, HiJack, FFMPEG, MacLink to name but a few.

If you want to run Windows on your Mac, your options are just as diverse! If you have a pre-Intel Mac, there's Virtual PC from Microsoft which can handle up to Windows XP and most standard apps (no 3d/fast2D games). If you have a post-Intel Mac, Boot Camp (free!)Parallels and VMWare are all excellent choices and run XP or Vista with 3D acceleration. Boot Camp only allows you to run Windows alone, while Parallels and VMWare allow you to run Windows and the Mac OS at the same time - in fact, you can run Mac, Windows and Linux all at the same time with Parallels or VMWare (and GOBS of RAM (;-})

I'm writing a review of Windows-on-Mac software for an upcoming edition of MONiTOR if you would like more info - pick up a copy!

Dan, if you're interested, I'm using rEFIt (OSS, see http://refit.sourceforge.net/) to dual boot Windows 2003 Server and OS X on my Mac Mini. The only driver that doesn't work is the one for Apple Bluetooth. I'm still hacking away at the INF file.

Yes REFit is a wonderful product - but not for everyone! There are quite a broad range of products that fall into the emulation/virtualisation basket, but have chosen to highlight only the commercially available solutions that are simple to use (Mac-like!). I will be mentioning all the other products for those who are interested - GuestPC, NorthStar, Crossover, etc., and I will definitely mention REFit, thanks for the advice! Let us know if you lick the bluetooth problem, you're not alone...

This helping you out blueguitarman?
