Why does my cursor move all over the screen by itself? The longer the computer is on the more it seems to move.

Hi Larry,
This is not normal behaviour, and I've experienced it in the past on my PBG4. But to figure out what the cause might be in your particular case, you need to share a few details:
- are you using a laptop or a desktop? which model?
- do you have an external mouse attached when the self-animated cursor problem occurs? or if it's a laptop, will it occur with no mouse attached?
- if you're using an external mouse, what kind is it and did you install a driver for it (e.g. is there a logitech, Microsoft, etc preference pane for it?)

Without any details it's hard to say even if it's a software or hardware problem. For example, if you were using a laptop with no external mouse when this problem occurs, it could be a hardware problem with the touchpad. Try covering the entire touchpad with the palm of your hand for 10-seconds. Does the problem go away?  But on the other hand, if the problem only occurs when you have a 3rd-party external mouse which has its own driver, it could be a software problem with the driver. Try removing the 3rd-party preference pane for that mouse, to see if the probem goes away.

It happens to me also but only when I use the mose on a hard shiny surface. Might be a coincidence but it doesn't happen on a dark foamy mouse pad. Maybe the shiny surface reflects the light and it bounces all over the place causing the mouse sensor to mis-read it as movement...

I'm thinking Larry is referring to the cursor moving eratically across his screen when he's not using the computer, moving his finger on the trackpad (if he has al laptop), or moving his mouse, if he has one.  In other words, there's no input of any kind, and the cursor should be stationary, but is not. Larry?
