Post by: fivespan on January 04, 2007, 08:37:09 PM
Here is the Rogers product page for the Wireless Highspeed Internet product line:

Rogers wants to be able to answer your technical questions about this product properly. If you post them here before January 15th, they will have a chance to consult an engineer.

To post a question, just reply to this thread.

QUESTION:
What ports (if any) are blocked on this service?

QUESTION:
Are customers allowed to run servers with this product?

QUESTION:
Is it possible to get a static IP? How much extra for that?

Question for Rogers:

Are there configuration changes a user can make to the device through a web browser?

For example, firewall settings or port forwarding.

Is Rogers Portable Internet (RPI) is 1.5 Mbps download and 256 Kbps upload? Why isn't RPI  compatible with the new Airport Express now being built into Macs? Why does RPI require a separate and independently-powered (120v) device and why so much juice? Can I use this device in my car powered from my car's electrical system? Is there any directional aspect to the RPI device? What software must I load onto my Mac to use the device? What enhancements and upgrades to RPI are on the horizon (e.g., WiMax 802.11n standardization, speed upgrades, widening the coverage territory, U.S. coverage)?

I'd like to see a current coverage map, and the last couple of coverage maps - I'd like to see the coverage changes.  I'd also like to see the wireless coverage map compared to the Cable line internet coverage map, and the DSL coverage map - any places this can reach that the others can't?  Or is the only advantage to this the portability?

Is your technology approved by or used by the SSHA (Smart Systems for Health - Networking Ontario doctors)

What is the corporate Relationship between AT&T and Rogers?  I've noticed that both partner with Yahoo for value added to high speed internet.  Is the Photo sharing on Rogers flickr?
