Title: How do I get a PC and my iMac to share a printer?
Post by: ruthd on November 21, 2006, 09:43:35 AM
I am trying to connect a PC and my iMac to share a printer.  The printer is connected to the iMac and I believe I have it set up okay but I am having trouble getting the PC to use the printer.

They are local (Bells Corners).

Hi,

Here are a few ideas for sharing your printer...

1) If the Printer is connected to your mac, you can select the Printer sharing option in the Sharing preferences. If the PC is a laptop, you could then access the printer wirelessly through a wireless router.  Vice versa - If the printer is connected to a PC, just share the printer from the PC and connect to it from your Mac wirelessly through a wireless router.

2) Another option is to buy the Airport Express which lets you share a USB printer wirelessly. It is very easy to setup and works great. It even lets you stream audio to your stereo if that's something you want.

Hope this helps.

Sam

Describe the problem with the PC.

I assume it's running Windows. Which version?
